DIY: Ombre, Ombre, Ombre!

So lately on my tumblr, I've been having people ask me about the Ombre hair style. Since I've been getting so many questions on if I knew how to do it, I figured I might as well do it for my fellow followers!! So tonight...I OMBRE'D.

This morning I went to the store to buy my hair dye. Now since I have dark brown hair, I bought Revlon's Frost & Glow Honey Highlighting Kit for medium to dark brown hair. I figured if I went platinum blonde, it would have looked retarded, and I would have been right! If you have lighter brown hair or close to blonde, I suggest getting the lighter kit.

Here's the final look, right after it was done:

Ombre FAQ:
Put the product from your cheekbone (or lower) down to the roots. Leave it on for 20-25 minutes.
Rinse and dry throughly.
Second bleaching process- lower half of hair (roots)- leave on for about 20 minutes to create a gradient.
Rinse again. Shampoo. Rinse. Condition. Rinse.
Leave in conditioner applied to the roots for dryness.

BADABING, BADABOOM.

Now I went for an 80's edgy rock look, hence why the gradient isn't large.
If you'd like a more subtle look. Apply it to the underneath part of your hair only (instead of inside and outside) And for the second bleaching process, only put it on the roots of your hair.

Do you have Ombre hair?! Or do you want to try it out?
Let me know what you think of it!

  5. You did a great job! I found your blog cause of this DIY. Just one thing though: the "roots" of your hair are actually the new hair closest to your scalp. I think what you are actually talking about (where you put the lightener)are the "ends" of your hair. Great post!

  6. I have black asian hair and with bleach , it turns my hair orange . Does this product work to lift it to that color ? Do you suggest a purple toner or just that product ?
